No introduction needed, one of the biggest names in dance music and highly regarded as the ambassador for Drum & Bass, Roni Size will be hitting our shores with an Australian/ New Zealand tour scheduled for September! An amazing DJ & producer, Mr Roni and Full Cycle members DJ Krust, DJ Die and SUV were one of the first to bring the jazzy elements into Drum & Bass which soon saw him picked up by the likes of Giles Peterson's Talking Loud label. ROC RAIDA PLAYS MELB - 12th May @ The Espy No stranger to our shores, Roc Raida's quest for supremacy culminated in the 1995 DMC Technics World Championships in London where he was crowned as the 1995 World Champion. He was later christened a "Grand Master" by some of Hip Hop's founding fathers as well as being inducted into the DMC Hall of Fame at the 1999 DMC World Finals in New York. In addition to DJing, Raida has become a successful producer - The Jungle Brothers (How Ya Want It - featuring De La Soul, which has become an underground classic), Leftfield ( "Dusted" remix which had a debut on the top five on the commercial radio charts in the UK) and Macy Gray (Still). Grooverider has notched up an incredible twelve years behind the decks. Beginning his DJing career at illegal raves and warehouse parties in Britain in the late eighties, he rose to prominence with partner Fabio through his innovative sets at influential club nights such as Rage and Speed. At these nights, Grooverider championed the emerging UK breakbeat culture that would eventually split from house and techno to produce jungle, which would in turn become known as drum and bass. Although Grooverider is known primarily as a DJ and presenter(radio 1), he is also a recording artist and runs one of the most prestigious drum and bass imprints: Prototype Recordings. The producers are the recordings partners behind the labels Underfire, Audio Bluprint and Zero G recordings. To date, the duo have also remixed for the likes of Morcheeba and Africa Bambatta as well as maintaining recording involvement with Liftin' Spirits and Andy C's RAM label. The recent release of their Clockwork EP is a true testament to the Underfire philosophy about building hard and fast beats drenched in infectiously, wobbly basslines. In underfire mode, Stakka and Skynet are able to decimate dancefloors effortlessly with no sign of easing up when they hit Melbourne town for the very first time. You have been warned!! Responsible for The Breaks and Glide, two of the most innovative and influential nights in New Zealand Drum & Bass history, his years of hard work and dedication to the scene have paid off with many of the UK’s top producers providing him with new music virtually as it is made.
